Breaking down further resistance, and letting go of old patterns and habits completely.

Sometimes, in a very altruistic manner, I get offered a cigarette, to which I politely reply “I don’t smoke thanks”!
This is coming from a tobacco lover, smoking more than 2 packs of cigarettes a day, pipe & cigar aficionado and have tried various types of smoke, even beyond Tobacco… and I don’t mind stating that I still love the smell and the act of smoking, but I quit.
My point in this is, that if I want, I can easily ask for just one cigarette, enjoy it and that’s it. You know, the important thing is to have “Balance”… WRONG!
Ask yourself, when could putting poison in your system ever be a balance? “Yes, but I used to smoke a packet a day, now I only smoke in the weekend when I am out with friends, you can’t be an extremist”… fair enough, still an achievement but unless you understand that in this way you are still a smoker, you are simply living in denial.
Of course, this subject extends beyond cigarettes, and could include Alcohol, Drugs, Refined Sugars, Saturated Fats, etc
Ask yourself honestly, is what I am consuming/doing adding value to me? Or is it a short lived “rush” of Serotonin with possible after effects. If it has side effects, it should be classified as poison/hazard so it can never bring any balance to your well being.
Remember, the only true way when “bringing balance” should be used is during our personal journey when we really understand how important our Mind, Body & Soul are altogether.
